An Entrepreneur from the Beginning…
At age 13, my friends in the neighborhood were starting to mow lawns for extra spending money. After a few weeks they lost their motivation and gave up, but I saw a great idea and accepted the challenge myself. For the first year I mowed only a few lawns. Then over the next six years I grew my business to mowing almost 50 weekly lawns by myself.
During the next three years, people in the community were attracted to my commitment and passion for the work I did, and I increased the size of my business from mowing about 50 lawns to over 100 lawns. I evolved from simply being “the neighborhood kid” to running a business with commercial mowers, work trucks, and hired help. I continued to operate my business all through high school and college. At it’s peak, my lawn care business offered mowing and landscape to just over 200 weekly customers!
The Start of Walla Painting:
While studying at the Kelley School of Business of Indiana University, I started my second business, WALLA PAINTING. The original idea was to create a service that complimented Walla Lawn Care that we could offer during the winter off-season when not able to mow. I desired to offer another service that I enjoyed personally and could generate a profit. For several years, painting filled both these needs. However, as family and faith create life changes, my plans for the business took an unexpected turn.
Through my faith in Jesus Christ, I was led to close the lawn care business and focus on expanding WALLA PAINTING to a full time business. I now have dedicated full-time painters, with average painting experience over ten years, that share my passion for the work we do. WALLA PAINTING now supports the Walla Family and the families of 11 employees. Thank you to all who have supported us over the years.
